Snow magic at Plan de Corones and in the Pustertal Valley

5 reasons for a winter holiday in Valdaora at 4****Hotel Alte Goste
Sparkling white, contemplative, beautiful – we’re talking about the winter landscapes in Valdaora & surroundings: a reason enough to spend a winter break in the mountains of Val Pusteria.

Nevertheless, we have 5 more reasons for an active winter holiday in the Dolomites, at the Hotel Alte Goste & Residence Iris:
skiing

#1 You'll ski in the No. 1 skiing area in South Tyrol

Gentle and challenging slopes, surrounded by a stunning Dolomite mountain scenery: an unbeatable mix for winter sports enthusiasts. Just a stone’s throw from our hotel, the Plan de Corones, South Tyrol's No. 1 ski mountain awaits you with 120 kilometres of perfectly groomed slopes, the thrilling "Black Five" and 40 mountain huts. Many ski lifts, fun parks, ski rental points and ski schools round off the winter sports offer.

#2 Hiking - with or without snowshoes - is simply wonderful

Idyllic winter peace, sometimes interrupted by the soft sound of footsteps in the creaking snow ... Besides skiing and snowboarding, a winter holiday at the Hotel Alte Goste in Val Pusteria also offers varied snowshoe tours. No snowshoes with you? No problem: in Valdaora there are more than 10 marked winter hiking trails – from easy to challenging. As you walk, you can’t help but notice the glistening white landscapes and the rustic mountain huts, tempting you with delicious foods and drinks.

#3 You’ll never get enough of tobogganing, cross-country skiing & ice skating

A few steps from the Hotel Alte Goste, Valdaora and the Pustertal Valley offer a wide range of winter activities for the whole family. From the Brusada mountain hut (1898 m), whiz down to Valdaora (1048 m) on the 7 km long natural toboggan run. Float over the ice at the Panorama Ice Rink in Valdaora di Mezzo, at the Ice Rink in Riscone or at the Skating Arena in Brunico. Enjoy cross-country skiing on numerous trails in Valdaora, im Valle di Casies and in the valley of Rudo/Rautal, on more than 300 of trails in the Plan de Corones holiday region – part of Dolomiti Nordicski, Europe's largest cross-country ski carousel – and on the high altitude trail on the Herb Pass (2000 m). We also highly recommend a trip to the nearby biathlon and cross-country skiing stronghold of Antholz/Anterselva.

#4 Our shuttle takes you to all near ski resorts

That’s right: our private minibus will take you to the train station and to the ski resort Plan de Corones/Kronplatz.
christmas market

#5 You can't miss the Advent season in Val Pusteria

As hard as we try, we won’t be able to describe the beauty of nature in the Pustertal Valley in words. And the same goes for the Christmas atmosphere in South Tyrol: how can we explain the colourful lights that decorate villages and cities? Or the sweet smell of mulled wine, pretzels and freshly baked biscuits? Or again, the charming atmosphere that warms people's spirits and lights up their eyes? It's best if you come in person to discover the Brunico Christmas Market, the Christmas Markets in San Candido and in Upper Val Pusteria.
